Peter Smith this Friday!

Less than a week to go now until Peter Smith's first appearance at the gallery. We are busy framing the 'May contain nuts' tour and taking pre orders on some of the pieces. Dedications can be arranged for the pictures even if you can't make the evening, just ring in advance.

We have also managed to secure a second original oil for the event, a truly stunning 40 by 40 inch box canvas which we have framed in a novel way to produce an amazing piece! Attendees will not be disappointed...

Excitement is building ahead of Peter's appearance at the gallery on Friday 21st November from 6pm until 9pm. We sincerely hope you can join us for a night that promises much.

We thought we'd share with you these images of baby Millie Hewitt, who seems to have taken a shine to the new pictures. Mummy & Daddy Hewitt are big Peter Smith fans and have quite a collection including 'We are Family', 'The Romper Room', 'I Love you Mum' & 'The Naughty Step' to name a few! We are sure Millie will be spending lots of time on The Naughty Step in years to come.

By the way, Millie's favourites are 'Do you come here often' and 'In your Arms', as she kicks her legs the most to these!

Jeff Rowland - A Brief Encounter

The Hawthorn Gallery would like to invite you into the gallery to view first hand the brand new collection of work from talented cityscape artist Jeff Rowland.

Heavily influenced by the work of British film director David Lean, who notably directed ‘Brief Encounter’ in 1946, this collection is inspired by the universal theme of romance, portraying the bond that has no boundaries – the bond of love.

With narratives unfolding in the iconic cities of New York, London and Paris, a Brief Encounter portrays a bygone era where men were men, women were women and romance was everything.

Angela Smyth - News is Spreading!

We are delighted to report that after a number of years successfully supporting Angela's original work, the 'art-world' has now sat up and took notice, with many other galleries now starting to stock her work; and publishers chasing her signature.

This month Angela has a 6 page spread in the society magazine 'Yorkshire Life', where she talks about her current projects and shows off a selection of her original paintings.

We have always believed in Angela's talent and are extremely proud to be a small part of her early success. We will continue to be the number one stockist of Angela's work so please check back for the latest news and best originals.

The Hawthorn Gallery are delighted to offer for sale a sensational new oil painting from acclaimed figurative artist Hamish Blakely.

An April Shower of Originals

RARE Pieces just arrived

We have just taken delivery of some sought after SOLD OUT editions which are now rare to find.

Mark Grieves piano pieces 'Rhythm' & 'Duet' are available, along with Peter Smith's 'Mr Lubba Lubba', 'The Love Collection' & 'Catch a Falling Heart'. We also have some Paul Horton pieces including 'The Hideaway', and 'Who knows where the road may lead'. Neil Dawson's 65 edition 'Midnight Hour' is also part of our new additions.

Originals arriving include a fantastic new Alexander Millar pencil sketch called 'Easy Rider'. We also have a superb Philip Stuttard along with some keenly priced Madjid pieces.

We have just taken delivery of some fantastic new original work from Angela Smyth. We first showcased Angela's paintings in 2006, and her profile has continued to rise since then. We are privileged to be offering Angela's new work, painted especially for us. Thanks Angela.

Angela has recently signed a deal with an international greeting card company to produce 6 designs for distribution in the UK and USA. This is brilliant news for Angie and can only help raise her profile at home and abroad.

We just wanted to say thank you to everyone who braved the cold last Friday night to come and meet Paul Horton in the gallery. It was a fabulous turn out and the last collectors left at 1am! Special thanks to Paul who tackled four hours of Friday afternoon traffic to be with us.

Busy Busy Busy - Autumn/Winter 2007

Sorry its been so long since our last update to the news page. We are having a very busy autumn with lots of exciting releases that are keeping us on our toes.

We are all looking forward to Paul Hortons visit to the gallery on 23rd November 6.30pm - 9.30pm. Its not too late for an invitation, but if you can't make it, and would like Paul to dedicate a piece to you, please telephone the gallery and this can be arranged.

In other gallery news, the new John Myatt Atelier collection has been an exciting addition to our range; and Caroline Shotton's 'The Great Moosters' has proved very popular. Order quick on 'The Laughing Cowvalier', 'Moona Lisa' and 'The Moo', as we are already getting to low availability on these sold out pieces.

NEW Winter Releases have been launched on the website today. Check out 'Girls night in' from Caroline Shotton and 'When you need a Special Friend' by Paul Horton. Sure to be popular for loved ones this Christmas.

We are delighted to report that some new canvas work from Miss Smyth will be arriving soon. Angie has been very busy recently painting to fulfil other significant commitments, but we are proud to be able to showcase some of her best work yet.

Angela Smyth Visit - 5th October 2007

As expected, we had a truly fabulous evening at the gallery on Friday. Many thanks to everyone who showed their support for both Angela and the gallery. Opposite are selected photo's for everyones perusal. Click on an image to enlarge it.

Angela rang the gallery on Saturday to say what a wonderful night she'd had. Apparently, meeting all her collectors has given Angela lots of ideas for new paintings, the mind boggles! Angela passes on her thanks to everyone.

Recognised artist James Blinkhorn also turned up on the night (see photos). James is a huge fan of Angela's paintings and wanted to meet her in person!

Thanks again to everyone involved in making this a truly memorable event. Angela will be back next year. We can't wait.

New AUTUMN Releases NOW available!

Autumn 2007 promises to be a fantastic season with some very strong work from many of your favourite artists.

Sell out editions have already arrived from Caroline Shotton. Carolines cows continue to be a big draw in the gallery and the new pieces don't disappoint. We only have limited quantities of each edition available.

Also just in are 6 new box canvas editions from Paul Kenton; these 95 editions are fabulous quality and heavily embellished. Again, quantities of these are strictly limited and they are available on a first come, first served basis.

Further editions are due from Peter Smith, Paul Corfield, Mackenzie Thorpe amongst others. We also have some fantastic new ORIGINAL work from both Bob Barker and Jeff Rowland.

Later in the Season we will be showcasing the latest John Myatt Atelier editions. With a Hollywood film in the offing about John's life as an art fraudster, the press that John's first releases generated has meant unprecedented demand for the second series. With a 150 edition size, they won't be around for long.

Furthermore, this side of Christmas, Caroline Shotton's 'The Great Moosters' and Paul Horton's 'Heart & Soul' collections should entertain us through the long winter nights ahead. All images will appear on the site when they become available to us.

RARE Mackenzie Thorpe Editions just in!

We have recently taken delivery of some early Mackenzie Thorpe pieces that are rare in the marketplace being long sold out from the publisher. We are offering these pieces at sensible prices so be quick to take advantage, as there is only one copy of each available.

The rarest of the works is a 2001 hand pulled silkscreen called 'The Office'. With only 50 copies in the edition, this image doesn't come up for sale very often. We love this piece & the jpegs simply don't do the vibrancy of the image justice.

Other pieces of interest include the sought after 'Love is Everywhere'; the 'Cock-a-doodle-doo' & 'Walking the Horse' silkscreens released in 1997, along with the ever popular 'Vale over Yorkshire'. We have seen Vale advertised at more than twice the price of our roman numeral copy.

Exclusive 65 Editions

We are delighted to be able to offer our customers some very exclusive pieces this month. With a TOTAL worldwide edition of size of 65 copies, these special limited editions are available at selected galleries only.

We will only be getting minimal copies of each of the pieces, so please enquire quickly if you see something you like.
